Early 19th Century Patriotic Carved Coconut, Mexican, carved in the overall form of a mythical creature with inlaid abalone eyes; slit in head for coins; back carved with a spread-winged eagle, serpent in beak and quiver of arrows in talons; reverse carved with double heart pierced with a sword and surrounded by leaves, 6" x 2.75".
