Historic Newspaper. Free Press, August 27, 1874, Mount Pleasant, Iowa, 4pp, recto and verso. An article on the second page describes Custer's expedition and findings in Black Hills, in the expired Sioux reservation, Wyoming Territory. In part:"...The expedition thus far has met with no resistance from the Indians...Gold and silver are found in numerous places...All reports, with Gen. Custer's official dispatches, agree in proclaiming this country a second El Dorado in mineral wealth and an Eden in picturesque loveliness." Usual folds, in excellent condition.
