Confederate general who commanded the famous Hood's Texas Brigade at Gettysburg, where he was wounded in the arm; as Commanding General, Confederate Army of Tennessee (1864-65), he lost a leg at Chickamauga. Clipped signature from a military requisition, "John B. Hood / Bvt 2d Lt. Infy...."; also in Hood's hand, "Priv Toohy off extra duty," on 5/8 x 3 1/8 piece of blue paper, tightly trimmed. Light toning at right margin but in very good condition. With reprint of a waist-up photo of Hood.
