Commander-in-Chief of German navy and U-Boat fleet. After Hitler's death, Donitz became Fuhrer and was responsible for the final surrender of Germany to the allies. 1 page souvenir typescript dated "May 6,1945" regarding General Jodl's surrender to of the German army to Supreme Commander, Allied Expeditionary Forces, General Eisenhower. "I Field Marshall Jodl, head of the German armed forces and leader of the high command of the German armed forces, conclude cease fire condition agreement with General Eisenhower's headquarter." Signed in Donitz's hand, "Acknowledgment confirmed, 20.2.65 Donitz". Jodl was sentenced to death and hung by the Allied Forces for his war crimes. Donitz as the Fuhrer here confirms his knowledge of Jodl's surrendering of the German Army and therefore the end of WWII in Europe. Comes with an unsigned souvenir typescript from Donitz. Both in excellent condition.
