This was effectively replaced by 'a new edition, revised and much enlarged' and edited between 1910 and 1959 successively by Vicary Gibbs (Cokayne's nephew), H.A. Doubleday, Duncan Warrand, Lord Howard de Waiden, Geoffrey H. White and R.S. Lea, appearing in twelve volumes with volume twelve being issued in two parts. Volume thirteen was issued in 1940, not as part of the alphabetical sequence, but as a supplement covering creations between 1907 and 1938. It is this 'new edition' which is here reprinted photographically in reduced format enabling the complete work to be published as a conveniently-sized, six volume set..."
