Israel Paldi (1892-1979) was born in 1892 in Russia and immigrated to Israel in 1909. During the years 1911-1914 he studied art in Munich. He created theater settings and took part in the Sao Paulo and Venice Biennales. Paldi's naïve and humoristic style is extremely unique and recognized. He creates fantastic and imaginary scenery of magical creatures using rich and lively colors.

Flora and Fauna is a fantastic and colorful work featuring strange and lively creatures and plants of the underwater world. Paldi's rich and invented world is extraordinary and unique. He succeeded in turning nature into a magical and mysterious world where fantasy, color and imagination exist.
