13" Rare Simon & Halbig 929 W/Provenance & Trunk
Bisque socket head marked 929//S 6 H. Sleep eyes, open mouth with two square cut teeth on top and one on bottom, pierced ears, antique cardboard pate. Small flakes at earring holes, one tiny wig pull in back. Early composition 8-ball jointed body with straight wrists, original finish with expected gentle play wear. Antique underclothing and shoes. Includes provenance and antique tin trunk containing silky knitted mittens, brown hat with red trim, celluloid comb, 2 vintage paper fans, white apron, leather drawstring pouch, plain white dress, white pinafore with pink ribbon trim, tan checked dress, white eyelet blouse (looks too large for doll), patchwork quilt in yellows. Also included is a small velvet box containing a miniature Christmas story book printed in 1862, calendar and almanac from 1888, a tiny calendar book from 1905, 2 tiny hankies, and 2 tiny letters addressed to the doll (Violet Bosworth), one dated December 1888. There is also an envelope containing 2 tiny tintype photographs of Violet. Circa 1888. A wonderful assemblage that's a slice of history with a rare and beautiful early German doll made for the French market.
