781. Screen-used "Teddy" character from Steven Spielberg's A.I.: Artificial Intelligence. (Warner Bros., 2001) In this wonderful re-telling of the Pinocchio story, the side-kick and conversational foil of the cricket has been replaced with a super-bear…Teddy. The hand tied fur pieces, foam latex face and hands with the signature silicone nose show the wear and age of the filmmaking process as well as the painted and sculpted aspects of the character's age that were part of the original design. There are no motors or electronics and was used for shots where Teddy was inactive or for CGI reference. Mounted in a traveling case for display to promote the film after shooting was finished. Figure measures 14 in. tall (seated) x 16 in. wide (display case measures 24 in. wide x 18 in. deep x 19 in tall).

These impressive pieces were assembled over many years by a single private collector who has now decided to pass these treasures on to new caretakers.

Many of you will recognize these characters as original creations of the artists at the Academy Award-winning effects house Stan Winston Studio, and each piece is accompanied by a signed letter of authenticity from the Stan Winston Studio. Bidders please note: the consignor will be donating a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each piece to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
