789. Ben Turpin wristwatch given to him from his wife Babette as a wedding present. A Hamilton stem-wind working wristwatch with leather band given to silent movie comedian, Ben Turpin, by his second wife, Babette Dietz as a wedding gift. The verso of the watchcase is engraved "Babette to Bussie, July 8 – 1926." "Bussie" was Babette's pet name for Ben Turpin. Turpin and Dietz married on July 8, 1926. Accompanying the watch is a collection of telegrams and typewritten letters from Turpin, photographs and newspaper clippings. Includes a letter of provenance stating these items came from the great nephew of Babette Turpin. $500 - $700
