800. Early MGM contract signed by Clark Gable and Irving Thalberg. A rare, one-page typed contract dated August 22, 1932 between Clark Gable and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Vice President, Irving Thalberg. Signed in black ink by Clark Gable and Irving Thalberg. Clark Gable's name is synonymous with MGM films, and this contract was signed just over a year after Gable's first MGM role. This is one of the earliest Gable/MGM agreements extant. To find Gable's signature coupled with Irving Thalberg's signature on the same document is extremely uncommon.
