828. Jean Simmons period nightgown from Desiree. (FOX 1954) A full length empire waist gown colored soft peach and featuring a pleated bodice and front. The gown also features a long train. The costume has a sewn in label from the designer Rene Hubert with Merle Oberon's name handwritten onto the label (suggesting it was created for Oberon's character but ultimately used by Simmons). A second bias label with handwritten production detail "1-27-7-8041- A-725-10." The costume features a built in corset with boning. The gown has a zipper to the rear with added hook eye closures. The film was nominated for best costume design for Hubert in 1955. In excellent condition. A stunning period costume worn by this much loved actress. $800 - $1000
