877. Rocket Ship "Luna" astronaut control consoles from Destination Moon. (George Pal, 1950) These are the two upper consoles on the ship's two-level flight deck. The console with the red button was used to launch the rocket into space. Created of steel, these consoles are equipped with numerous aviation instruments and gauges with various toggle switches, buttons and knobs. These pieces originated from Vectrex Corp., a Hollywood prop house specializing in science fiction effects from the 1930s through the 80s. Since the consoles were rented out repeatedly after their original use in Destination Moon, some of the gauges, switches and knobs, although vintage, may have been replaced since their initial use in the film. The original labels on the dash are missing and have been replaced with reproductions. Wonderful recognizable relics from this science fiction classic. Each console measures 24 in. wide x 11 in. high. $4000 - $6000
