881. Original hero ray gun and holster from Forbidden Planet. (MGM, 1956) This fantastic Forbidden Planet handheld ray gun is constructed of a silver and gray fiberglass body with metal rear endcap, and features a turned, conical clear perspex barrel which illuminates when the trigger is depressed. It includes the custom-made leather holster with snapping strap which has the name "J. Best" written in ink on the back, referring to the actor James Best who played one of the crewmen. Includes a letter of authenticity from William Malone who purchased the blaster from MGM Studios in the late 1970s. Some minor restoration has been completed including repainting, reaffixing two broken fins and fixing cracks along the seams. One of four ray guns known to have survived the filming. A highly visible prop from this cult sci-fi film. $30000 - $40000
