974. John Malkovich "Mitch Leary" hero assassin pistol from In the Line of Fire. (Columbia, 1993) Machined .38 caliber, double-barrel, double-trigger aluminum pistol painted yellow. Overall length is 7 in. It was designed and built to fire blanks by weapons technician, Frank Rousseau, who personally trained John Malkovich, who played would-be assassin "Mitch Leary", on the set of the film. It required 96 hours of machine work and 72 hours of construction to manufacture this piece. The gun has been cut into three separate pieces as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms to comply with Federal Law, and is now held together with Velcro. Includes a letter of authenticity from Frank Rousseau, prop maker on the film, as well as numerous conceptual drawings, contractual communications and a color photograph of Frank Rousseau holding this pistol in his studio.
