Herman Struck was born in Germany in 1876. He studied at the Berlin Academy of Fine Arts. In 1904, he joined the modern art movement known as the Berlin Secession. In World War One Struck served in the German army. He later immigrated to Palestine (1922), taught at Bezalel Academy and helped establish the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. Struck passed away in 1944.
