Shimshon Holzman was born in Poland in 1907 and immigrated to Israel in 1922. At first he worked in architecture, and at the age of 18 he started to paint. In 1929 he went to Paris. He was influenced by the work of Soutin and later by Henri Matisse. Holtzman passed away in Israel in 1986
