[Ephemera] [Mr. Flockton] Edmonton Fair. 14th September. Flockton's Puppet Shew. 1788. Painted by J. Nixon, 1788. Handsome 8 ¾ x 6 ¾" watercolor in black and grey depicts Flockton presenting The Siege of Quebec and the Broken Bridge in his puppet show at the Edmonton Fair. Affixed to stiff board with Flockton's obituary pasted down, separate from the painting. Good condition. Upon his death in 1794, Flockton's show was bequeathed to Gyngell, who became a magician of note. Jay Marshall wrote of his acquisition of this watercolor in Magicol No. 8 (Nov. 1961).
