Fine Three-Piece French Gilt-Bronze and Porcelain Mantel Garniture, in the Louis XVI style, produced for Tiffany and Company, New York, and so marked, the porcelain elements of bleu celeste ground and decorated with allegorical figures of putti in the Sevres style, the set consisting of a tall mantel clock surmounted by the seated figure of a putto reading and supported on four monopodal sphinxes of gilt bronze, h. 21", w. 11", d. 8", and a pair of six-light candelabra en suite, each candlesocket with a detachable gilt-bronze bobeche, h. 24".
Condition report
One of the candlelabra has cracks and breaks to the porcelain just below the central urn. There is one small rosette gone from the upper front right corner of the clock. One bronze curl is broken off (but present) to the top of a candle arm. Some wear to the gilding but a fine overall patina and great casting quality. We are not sure of the running condition of the clock, however, the movement looks clean and undamaged. The pendulum is present as well.
