The document reads, in part: "Know all me by these Presents that we Jeremiah Halsey & John Cary acknowledge ourselves jointly and severally bound to the Governor and Company of the State of Connecticut in the penal Sum of One Thousand Pounds LM to be paid to said Governor and Company, their Successors or certain Attorney, which Payments well as truly to be made, we bind ourselves, Executors and Administrators firmly by these Presents. Witness our Hands and Seals, this first Day of Novemr.
