LUCRETIA GARFIELD (1832-1918) First Lady of the United States. Autograph Letter Signed, "Lucretia R. Garfield," on her monogrammed, black-bordered mourning stationery. Three pages, 3 3/4" x 5 5/8". South Pasadena, California. April 7, 1909. Garfield writes, in part: " In reply to your request I can only say that no letter sent by General Garfield to his family can be allowed to pass out of our possession; and I am unable to tell you to whom to apply for a letter written by General Garfield after he became President ...
