First Editions.A mere vehicle for the advertisements, which occur on alternate pages. Only three volumes, of an intended six, appeared, and then it was reissued in a one volume edition titled "The American Portrait Gallery". Present here are the New York and Boston variants of Volume 1 and the "NE" (Boston) variant of Volume 3, each with local advertisements.
