First Edition.Recounts the mission of the "Wilberforce" in suppression of the slave trade. "A thirst for discovery, and the spirit of commercial enterprise, had stimulated all these attempts to penetrate into the interior of Africa. But a new and better motive now arose to produce a far greater effort...the suppression of the Slave Trade" (p.22). The maps are a "Sketch of the West Coast of Africa" and "The Lower Course of the River Niger".
