PORTRAIT OF MAYAN CHIEF BY DALE NICHOLS (Nebraska/Illinois, 1904-1995).
Mixed media on cotton cloth, signed lower right and dated 1969. Carved frame, 26"h. 19"w. Dale Nichols (Nebraska/Illinois, 1904-1995) is principally known for his regionalist Midwestern farm paintings. However, he spent time in Guatemala in the 1960s and he utilized local subjects in experimental works. Purchased directly from Nichols in Guatemala in 1969.
