LARGE NEEDLEWORK PICTURE.
Probably American. Dated 1827. Silk embroidery on silk satin ground. Painted blue sky. "Work’d By Lydia G. Day". Large twostory stone house with shorter wing, fl anked by trees and over-scaled fl owers. A small dog rests on the semicircle path. The scene is bordered by a meandering, flowering vine. A Lydia G. Day married Benjamin Berson in Baltimore, Maryland, in December of 1831. Minor thread loss. Some weakening of ground. Old, if not original, gilt frame. 22"h. 24 1/2"w.
