ABT: Lionel #3562-1 Gray Barrel Car/RED Lettering

Paul V. Ambrose and Drew J. Bauer present: This is the #3562-1 Gray-painted Operating Barrel Car with RED heat-stamped Lettering that Lionel made around 1954. It is the extremely rare -1 Variation instead of the simply rare -25 Variation. We have only seen a handful of these cars over the past 30 years, and most have always appeared with a cracked body and/or other major issues. This example is not cracked, and even with signs of use and age, it is about the best we have ever seen; a truly prestige piece to any Post War collection.
