ABT: Lionel #244T Slope-Back Tender/Rare OB

Paul V. Ambrose and Drew J. Bauer present: This is the #244T slope-back Tender that Lionel made circa 1960. Plastic AAR trucks with a rear-step and operating coupler. This model was the same as #1625T but renumbered to pair with the #244 Scout-type Steam Engine. The real value with this lot is the exceptionally scarce remarked Late Classic Box; unfortunately, it is missing the end-flap on one-end. Our Opinion is that the Tender is generally in Excellent Plus Condition. The Original Box is in (8-) Condition; outstanding on one-side and would be ideal for shelf-display.
