Walter Lantz Woody Woodpecker Comic Strip Original Art (1940s). Woody gets a real bang out of life in this early daily, drawn by legendary animator Walter Lantz himself, which seems to be one of a group of samples done to sell a syndicate on distributing the strip -- a decidedly interesting piece of comic and animation history. The Woody Woodpecker strip came to fruition and ran for several years in the mid-1950s. This piece has an image area of 19" x 5" and except for a couple of small stains in the second and fourth panels, the art is in Very Good condition. This episode was signed Walter Lantz in the last panel.
