1939 Snow Cruiser Commemorative Cover This commemorative cover was in the South Polar regions for 18 months with the Byrd Antarctic Expedition III, leaving November 14, 1939. The cover was carried to Little America by the SS North Star, and placed aboard the Snow Cruiser during its explorations of the South Polar regions, and brought back to the US and cancelled at the first port of entry. The cover bears a Boston, Mass cancel dated May 6, 1941. The cover is number 0649, and bears a 3-cent US health and education stamp. The black and red cachet depicts the snow cruiser in transit.
