Burkina Faso, Kurumba. A very old Kurumba dance headdress. In the form of an antelope-head, made of hard wood, the paint with triangular designs in black, ochre and white in connection with abrus seeds is very hard encrusted, at ears and mouth remains of blue powder, the elongated ears join the strait horns. Slightly glossy fine patina, H. ca. 83 cm. Abrasions, wood slightly chapped, remnants of few termite bites. Provenance: Acquired 1978 from Adrian & Irena Csaky, London; ex. Swedish private coll. from Gšteborg
