Liberia, Dan. Mask with protruding pierced open mouth and carved teeth, circular eyes with sheet-metal borders, complete attached braided fibre, the encrusted hairdo with central ridge ending in three plaits, pierced border. Wood, metall, raffia, glossy black patina . H. ca. 33, L. ca. 30 cm. Abrasions, minimal losses at the edge of the mask. Provenance: Acquired 1979 from Ludwig Bretschneider, Munich; ex coll. Speiser, Berlin.
