Liberia, Dan. Fine, aged mask with slotted eyes, hook-nose and accentuated cheeks. Metal protrusion in the centre of forehead, open mouth with two metal teeth, pierced border. Wood, mud encrustation over rather glossy patina, with beard out of fibre and feather. H. ca. 24 cm. Provenance: Acquired 1978 from Stella Pitt-Rivers, London.
