Ivory coast, Baule. A female mask with numerous sacrification pattern in the face, very fine coiffure elaborating in two lobes with projecting round plaits to each side, glossy black patina. Wood, H. 23 cm. Provenance: Acquired 1975 from L. Bretschneider, Munich, ex. coll. Borro Samir Abidjan, Ivory coast. Photo with original certification of Bretschneider existing. According to him the mask was collected in the 1940s at Ivory coast. Old collector's label.
