Ivoy coast, Baule. Male sitting figure on ashanti-stool, of black dyed wood with numerous sacrification marks on face, neck and body. The arms carved in relief. At the base minor cracks and termite erosion, peak of plate broken off, fine glossy patina. H. ca. 34 cm. Provenance: Acquired 1964 from L. Bretschneider, Munich.
