Staffordshire figurine, "Water and Gin," late 19th

Double-sided temperance figure exhibits contrast between the vigor of a healthy water-drinking man compared to the gin-drinking street urchin wearing shabby patched and mismatched clothing, with a sour expression clutching a bottle . In shades of brown, green, yellow, peach and black with gold detailing. Marked with poorly stamped Staffordshire knot with "W" on left side and "Staffordshire Ware" above and "England" below.
Condition: Overall good condition. Some minor craquelure noted on white and peach areas. One loss of black glaze on top of hat and several tiny losses on outer sleeve of bottle clutching arm, One (1) split, approx. 1" long, noted on outer seam of peach colored leg (original to piece - not damage).
