Brass Culpeper-type Microscope, 19th century, with sliding focus inner tube engraved 1, 2, 3, 4, eyepiece, circular stage with sprung slide-holder, two sets of scrolling brass supports, concave mirror on compass joint, and mahogany base, ht. closed 10 1/4 in., (lacquer worn away, brass darkened), in pyramidal mahogany case with drawer containing four objectives (two lacking optics, one with chipped optics), fish plate and other accessories, case wd. 13 1/2 in.
