American Artists Great Artists as Illustrators. Wood engravings, line drawings and illustrations. Lot of over 700 leaves of wood engravings, line drawings, and illustrations from popular publications of the 1870s to 1890s, by such noted artists as Frederick Remington (142 pieces), William M. Chase (11), John La Farge (29), Jean Francois Millet (2), Timothy Cole (1), J.H. Twachtman (3), Thomas Moran (137), and Joseph Pennell (398). Accompanied stories and articles, from such magazines as Scribner's, Century, and Harper's. Especially noteworthy illustrations done by the author William Makepeace Thackeray for his story (6 pp.), The Worldwide. Subjects include cowboys, Indians, nature, places, and story elements.
