Eric Waters Gibberd (American, 1897 - 1972)

Original Rock.

Mixed media. c1960s. Signed notations verso. 30 1/8 x 28 13/16 in. (765 x 732 mm). Artist's note: "This work is mica, granite, sandstone, set in gesso. It should be handled carefully like a piece of fine furniture. The frame has been made especially strong. If a small piece of mica drops off, it will in no way detract from the work." A New Mexican artist, Gibberd studied with many artists, including Emil Bisttram. He has an extensive exhibition history and his work is held in the collections of many museums.
