Description: 3 vols. [4], 344; [2], 351, [1]; [2], 344 pp. 7½x4¾, rebound in full tan polished calf, gilt borders, spines gilt, morocco labels, all edges gilt. Bound by Bickers and Son. First Edition, later issue of Volume 1 & 2, first issue of Volume 3.There were several printing of the sheets of this book, as well as five distinct issues. The issues are distinguished by edition statements on the title-pages in the last four issues, beneath the volume numbers. These five editions were in reality issues, using essentially the same sheets from the various impressions of the first edition, with the altered title-pages. In this set, the edition statements on the title-pages of Volumes 1 & 2 have been erased. Without the catalogue at the end of Vol. III. Smith Vol. I, 14.
