Description
2 5/8" long by 2 1/4" tall Adena bust type birdstone found in Richland county made from Gneiss. Found by a farmer two miles south of Shelby, OH prior to 1943. Previous owners: Joseph Ringiesen (finder/farmer), Dr T. Hugh Young, B. W. Stevens, Stanley Copeland, John Steimle, William Art Crowther. Pictured in Birdstones of the North American Indian, 1959 Townsend-Ancient Ohioans, Vietzen-Ohio Slate types, converse-plus other publications. Surface crack visible in photo is a fault line not a break. The piece has been xrayed to prove same. Comes with Coa and documentation from John Baldwin.
