SAMPLER.
Elizabeth Strickland, American, Ca. 1820-1840, silk thread on linen ground. Sets of alphabets and numbers separated by decorative bands over rosebuds and a bluebird and a bird with bright red berry in it's mouth. Signed with her name and "Aged 8 Years". Good colors. Minor imperfections. Framed 15 1/2"h. 13 1/4" w.

According to historical research, Elizabeth Strickland was a popular name in the South during this time period.
