PAINTED MULE CHEST.
Probably New England, early 19th century, pine and maple. Molded edge lid with applied side moldings. Well-shaped cutouts on sides. Crazed surface over the original red and blue. Minor repair. 41"h. 41 3/4"w. 19"d.

Condition: Small loss to rear foot. Lid is loose, hinges need to be rescrewed. The drawers have worn red over earlier blue paint. No blue paint apparent on rest of chest. Minor touch ups to red. One side of lid molding replaced. Renailed front foot facing.
