See Muller, Soap Hollow: The Furniture and Its Makers , pp. 40-47; see also Garth's Auctions, February 25-26, 2005, lot 448 for a very similar chest by Stahl. Condition reportCondition: Moderate alligatoring to the paint, the right two (2) small top drawers have been cleaned. Pulls are original. Three of the kite-shaped escutcheons are missing. Good, thick stock - a very clean Soap Hollow example. Descriptions provided in both printed and on-line catalogue formats do not include condition reports. The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of aging.
