American, dated 1826, pine with original paint. Dovetailed case with domed lid and square nails. Painted initials "U.D." Alligatored paint with some edge damage. 12 5/8"w. 8 1/4"d. 7 1/4"h. Owned by Uri David, born in Vermont 1803, he was a farmer in New Windsor, Illinois, where he died in 1896. Included in lot is a picture of Uri and information about his wife and descendants and the cemetery where he is buried.
