TWO SIMILAR FINE HOOKED RUGS.
American, late 19th-early 20th century, wool on burlap. An album style runner, finely hooked having very detailed renderings of floral and fauna including roses, coxcomb, butterfly, nesting birds, peacocks,grapes and a rooster. Motifs are similar to those found on album quilts in the mid 19th century. Good bright colors. Minor imperfections. 36"w. 92 1/2"l. Together with a finely hooked runner with great detail in ten blocks of floral designs, including Rose of Sharon and Coxcomb. Patterns closely resemble the red and green applique quilts of the mid 19th century. Good bright colors. Minor imperfections. 37"w. 88"l. Condition reportCondition: The first has small scattered pulls with little or no loss of wool. Two generations of minor repair, the last of professional quality including rebacking. Minor color loss. Remains flexiable. The second has small scattered areas of professional quality mending and rebacking. Minor fading. Remains flexiable.
