PAINTED FLATWALL CUPBOARD.
Probably southern Indiana, mid-19th century, poplar with old worn blue over earlier yellow. One-piece cupboard, nicely detailed with bold cornice, original square wood knobs, chamfered corners, and scalloped skirt. Minor repairs. 78"h. 47 1/2"w. 20 1/2"d.

Purchased in Gentryville, Indiana in 1980, this cupboard exhibits some of the Germanic characteristics found in that area including the use of thick boards (1 1/8"). When purchased it retained an early German language newspaper from Ferdinand, Indiana.

Condition: Reglued rear foot, one rear facing replaced and, new glue block on front.
