GROTESQUE JUG.
Lanier Meaders, 1917-1998, Georgia. Double sided jug with ash glaze and inset stone teeth. Incised signature. 8 1/2"h.

Lanier was a member of the well known family of potters from White County, Georgia. The Meaders Pottery was started by his father, John in 1892.

Condition: One side has three stone teeth, the other four. On the side that has three teeth there is a gap and indent under the glaze. Some minor discoloration in one of the eyes. Blacklighting did not reveal any restorations, cracks, etc.
