PORTRAIT ATTRIBUTED TO BENJAMIN FRANKLIN MASON (AMERICAN, 1804-1871).
Oil on heavy paper board stock, unsigned. Portrait of a gentleman, ca. 1830s (name plaque states 1845). Revarnished with minimal inpainting, ground has bubbled slightly. 8"h. 7 1/2"w., in a gilt frame, 10 5/8"h. 10 1/4"w. Mason was a freed slave and an itinerant portrait artist who settled in Vermont, near Woodstock.
