NEEDLEWORK PICTURE.
Possibly Ann Drake, English, ca. 1795, silk chenille, silk threads and ink on silk ground. Young woman in late 18th-century dress seated under a tree with small dog at her feet. Windmill in background. Well done inked face. Bright colors on clean ground. Old, if not original, oval gilt frame with 1795 English newspaper backing. The name Ann Drake is inscribed on back. 9 1/2"h. 8 1/4"w. framed.
