NEEDLEWORK PICTURE.
American or English, 1st half-19th century, wool and silk threads on silk ground, cut paper. Mounted on watercolored ground. Young girl cuddling a rabbit, looms large in a background of small houses and a church. Her paper head and arms are cut out and glued to her embroidered gown and bonnet. Bordered by woven silk trim. Some loss. In old, if not original, gilt frame. 9 3/4"h. 11 3/4"w.

Condition: Very minor thread loss. The sky portion of the original ground may have deteriorated and been removed, replaced by painted paper. The child's face and arms are printed.
