MARK CATESBY 18/19TH C HAND COLORED BIRD PRINT

Eighteenth century (possibly early 19th century) engraving hand colored and on laid paper. Mark Catesby (British, 1679-1749). Signed in plate, stylized initials MC. (see JJ Audubon Gallery website Mark Catesby for image showing same) Engraving was removed from the frame to be examined. Engraving is titled The crested Titmouse. Plate T57. Paper has been glued to cardboard, some fading. Measures 18 1/4" high by 13 1/2" wide. Frame dimensions are 19 3/4" high by 15" wide by 1" deep. See images. (UPDATED 8/25 7:22 PM - the little white dots that appear in the images are on the print. It is not glare.)
